LET'S MAKE A DIFFERENCE- UPCYCLING

                How Can I Do/Be More

Thrifting, vintage shopping, reconstructing and taking on the challenge of upcycling has given me a chance to make a small difference.

The clothing industry produces apparel to meet the demand of the insatiable appetite of consumers.

Fast fashion items are the apparel pieces that are currently trendy and in high demand. The problem with fast fashion is in the speed and quantity that society is demanding the product.

As consumers we keep our clothes for shorter periods of time and are buying at a faster rate to keep up with societal fads. This creates a market that is creating lower quality materials at a cheaper rate for consumers to buy but turn around and dispose almost just as fast.

The Problem- Environmental Impact

The apparel industry has become the second largest polluter in the world.

To keep it simple, our demand for current style is contributing to the world pollution through pesticides in cotton farming, toxic dyes, and the amount of waste discarded clothes create.

Let's Make a Difference - UPCYCLE

By choosing to shop less at fast fashion and brand name retailers and shopping more often at thrift and vintage shops.

Fashions recycle over time. Currently trends of the 90's are taking over mainstream apparel. Instead of buying from the typical marketplace stores for all your fashion needs, take a trip to a thrift shop and do some treasure hunting.

By giving clothes that have been discarded another shot at wearability we can make a small difference in the demand and pace that new apparel is being mass produced.

TAKE A CHANCE - Choose Thrift 🌵🌙🌴
